Koodo Mobile, a small Canadian carrier, is preparing to launch the Curve 9300 smartphone in the next few weeks.

For any other major carrier in North America this might not be that important, but Koodo Mobile is known for retailing mostly feature-phones and entry-level handsets.

However, the carrier seems to have stepped up their game lately with new items such as INQ Chat 3G, BlackBerry Curve 8530 and LG Optimus One, which is also the first Android device available at Koodo Mobile.

Furthermore, the carrier is also expected to launch the Nexus S sometime in April, possibly along with the Curve 9300.

Even though Blackberry's smartphone hasn't been confirmed yet, according to a leaked internal document, the Curve 9300 will be available for purchase for $300.

The document also mentions that a Grey version of smartphone will be retailed, but it may also be available in Black or Red.

Not the newest Blackberry device on the market, the Curve 9300 has a 2.46-inch TFT display with 65K colors support and 320 x 240 pixels resolution.

The device comes with a standard QWERTY keyboard and runs on the Blackberry 5.0 mobile platform. However, it seems that the manufacturer is preparing to roll-out a software upgrade to Blackberry 6.0 sometime in May.

Blackberry Curve 9300 packs 256 MB RAM, 256 MB ROM, as well as a microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32 GB). The only things that make the smartphone stand out are the dedicated music keys, something that is rarely seen in a Blackberry device.

The handset is HSDPA-enabled and includes features such as: Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP support, GPS with A-GPS (Blackberry Maps) and 2-megapixel camera with video recording capabilities.

The Curve 9300 is powered by a 1150 mAh Li-Ion battery which is rated by the manufacturer for up to 456 hours of talk time or up to 4 hours and 30 minutes of talk time.
