Starting today, users in the United States can purchase the BlackBerry Z10 smartphone on the network of Verizon Wireless, as the device just went up for sale at the operator with a price tag of $199.99 attached to it, on a two-year contract.

The smartphone can be seen on this page on the carrier’s website in Black and White flavors (the latter is exclusive to Verizon), priced at $599.99 contract-free.

BlackBerry Z10 is the first smartphone to arrive on the market with the new BlackBerry 10 operating system loaded on top, as well as with upgraded hardware when compared to its predecessors.

“Flow seamlessly between conversations and tasks by peeking at your inbox without closing the app you’re using. Spread the word with BlackBerry Messenger and a keyboard that adapts to your typing style. Multitask with lightning–fast Verizon 4G LTE,” the carrier notes.

The smartphone was built with a 4.2-inch touchscreen display on the front, capable of delivering a 1280 x 768 pixels resolution, and packs a 1.5GHz dual-core processor inside, paired with 2GB of RAM.

The phone’s specs list also includes 16GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot, the aforementioned support for Verizon’s 4G LTE network, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, and the like.

Furthermore, it packs an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, capable of HD video recording, as well as a front camera to enable users to make video calls while on the go. BlackBerry Z10 also offers 1080p playback capabilities, a virtual QWERTY keyboard, and a 1800 mAh battery that can deliver up to 15.4 hours of talk time, or up to 12 days of standby time.

“Browse through thousands of songs, videos, apps, games and more with BlackBerry World, and use BlackBerry Messenger updates to see what your friends are downloading. Then share apps with your buddies using NFC (Near Field Communication) by tapping compatible BlackBerry devices together,” Verizon notes.
