BlackBerry Torch 9800, the first BlackBerry device that Research In Motion brought to the market with its new BlackBerry 6 OS on board, as well as with a sliding design, is on its way to the market in India. The company has just announced Torch's release in the country, stating that it would prove a great solution for a wide range of customers there.

The handset comes with a touchscreen display complemented by a QWERTY keyboard, while packing inside a series of advanced communications and multimedia features, not to mention that it includes various apps specifically designed for business users.

The specifications list of BlackBerry Torch 9800 includes 3G (UMTS/HSDPA) connectivity, complemented by Wi-Fi (b/g/n) and Bluetooth capabilities, as well as built-in GPS receiver for location-based applications.

Moreover, the new mobile phone comes to the market with a 5-megapixel photo snapper with support for video recording capabilities.

At the same time we should note that it sports 4GB of internal storage space, complemented by a microSD/SDHC memory card slot with supprot for up to 32GB of additional storage space (a 4GB card included in the package).

On top of that, the new handset comes with RIM's new BlackBerry 6 operating system on board, which offers a new user interface, while being aimed at delivering a fresh, approachable and engaging experience.

Users would receive improved access to various social networking sites, including Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, as well as to instant messaging applications (including the BlackBerry Messenger), or to email and more.

One other feature that BlackBerry 6 comes to the market with is a new WebKit-based browser, which should be able to offer a much better navigation experience than before.

Not to mention the new universal search functionality in the OS, which “allows users to search through email, messages, contacts, music, videos and more on the smartphone, as well as extend search to the Internet or to discover applications on BlackBerry App World,” the company announced.
