Storm 2 headed to Vodafone Germany

Owners of a BlackBerry Storm 9500 mobile phone have now yet another reason to rejoice, as OS 4.7.0.167 has been officially released for their devices, and it can already be spotted on Research In Motion's website, where it is available for download. There are no exact details on what the new software version will deliver to users, yet it seems rather great that RIM has finally decided to provide them with an official release, after a series of leaked OSes that have been spotted in the wild lately.

However, according to a couple of users who already tried the new OS version on their devices, there are some improvements that can be spotted right from the start, yet it seems that new features haven't been included. The connectivity is reportedly faster than before, and the device's memory looks good, even with a series of installed applications on board, yet the browser and the typing seem a little slow, though faster than with versions .164 and .151, respectively. At the same time, the themes are reportedly working with the new version though not all of them.

Those willing to give the new OS 4.7.0.167 for BlackBerry Storm 9500 a try will find it available for download on BlackBerry.com. It would be wise to back up all the data on the Storm, so as to make sure that no important files are lost during the upgrade process. At the same time, we should also mention that there are two different files available for download, one being 121.42MB in size (EastAsia), the other one, 145.29MB (AllLang). Some more details on what has been found in the new version are available here.

As stated above, no new features seem to have been included in the new OS version, though the upcoming OS 5.0 should deliver plenty of those too. Until that happens, we should mention that the second version of the device, namely BlackBerry Storm 2, which has already been confirmed by RIM and which is expected to reach Verizon in the near future, might also come to Vodafone Germany. The handset has been spotted in the carrier's database, yet no details on when it might arrive have emerged.
