One of the mobile phones that Canadian handset vendor Research In Motion is expected to push during the ongoing year to shelves at various wireless carriers around the world would be the BlackBerry Storm 3, codenamed Monaco, which can be seen in the video embedded at the bottom of this article.

The handset was long rumored to be on its way to Verizon Wireless' airwaves, and it seems that the actual release date might be nearing fast.

The same as its predecessors, the BlackBerry Storm 3 should land on shelves with a touchscreen display on board, though with better hardware specs and with increased functionality.

The smartphone would run under RIM's BlackBerry OS 6.1 when made available for purchase, but no official confirmation on the matter emerged for the time being.

The mobile phone should include NFC connectivity options, something that RIM reportedly confirmed for all future BlackBerry devices.

The smartphone would pack a 1.2GHz Processor, 768MB RAM, 4GB of memory, or a 5 MP photo snapper on the back.

Other specs of the new smartphone would include WiFi and WiFi mobile hotspot capability, as well as a 3.7-inch touchscreen display, microSD memory card slot, accelerometer, magnetometer, Bluetooth, and more.

The handset that can be seen in the video below seems to be a little slow, but it would most probably be a prototype, and the final hardware could prove faster. The software loaded on this smartphone might not be a final flavor either.

The one thing that this video seems to confirm would be the fact that Verizon Wireless is the carrier to bring it to the US market.

The Storm 3 smartphone made it to the headlines quite a few times before, but nothing is official on its as of yet, and it might still take some time before RIM decides to make a formal announcement on it.

Have a look at the video embedded below to make an idea on what would the handset have to offer, and keep an eye on this space for more details on the matter (via CrackBerry).
