A new CDMA device for users in the country

On Wednesday, Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion and Tata Teleservices Limited, the fastest-growing pan-India dual-technology telecom service provider in India, announced the launch of the CDMA BlackBerry Curve 8530 smartphone on the Tata Indicom network. According to the handset vendor, the new device is meant to offer increased usability when it comes to email, messaging, social networking, entertainment and more.

The new BlackBerry Curve 8530 is already available for purchase at all authorized Tata Indicom retail stores in the country. It can be acquired with pre-paid and post-paid plans from the wireless carrier, offering a rich communication option for all users. BlackBerry Curve 8530 can be purchased until June 30 from the operator with two months of free data services, the company revealed, adding that the smartphone is also accompanied by free live TV for the first 3 months of service.

“The CDMA smartphone market is developing rapidly. The launch of the BlackBerry Curve 8530 will give Tata Indicom customers access to a very approachable smartphone at an affordable price,” said Mr. Pradeep Dwivedi, senior vice president, Tata Teleservices Limited. “We believe that the BlackBerry Curve 8530 supported by our extensive network will appeal to young professionals and students who want easy-to-use smartphones with rich communications and multimedia features that allow them to stay connected through social networking sites, instant messaging services including BlackBerry Messenger, and email.”

The specifications list of the new smartphone includes a full-QWERTY keyboard, dedicated media keys, a 528 MHz processor coupled with 256 MB of flash memory, Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g), 3.5 mm stereo headset jack, microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space, access to email, messaging and social networking sites, BlackBerry Media Sync, access to the BlackBerry App World, BlackBerry services with access to up to 10 supported email accounts, and other features more. The handset measures 109 x 60 x 13.90 mm and weighs in at 106 grams.
