Although Canadian carrier Virgin Mobile already confirmed that it will launch RIM's BlackBerry Bold 9900 smartphone, it's been more than a month and no further details emerged.

However, it appears that fans of the handset maker put the pressure on Virgin Mobile and the carrier felt the need to reaffirm that the BlackBerry Bold 9900 will be launched 'super soon.'

One of the carrier's officials said via Twitter that the device will soon hit shelves: “well be getting the bb 9900 super soon! :)

Since Virgin Mobile is owned by Bell, it is likely that the BlackBerry Bold 9900 will be released by the major carrier as well.

Virgin Mobile tweeted the news about picking the Bold 9900 at the beginning of May, but avoided making any clear statements regarding the exact release date of the smartphone:

phone news! we’ll be adding the new @blackberry bold 9900 smartphone to our line-up. stay tuned for details.”

The BlackBerry Bold 9900 was officially unveiled six weeks ago and is the thinnest smartphone manufactured by Research in Motion (RIM) to date, as it measures only 10.5mm.

Equipped with a single core 1.2 GHz processor, the BlackBerry Bold 9900 is the second most powerful device made by RIM, after the PlayBook tablet.

With BlackBerry 7 OS on board, the Bold 9900 seems to be the first from a new series of powerful devices.

The new mobile platform provides support for HSPA+ connectivity and Liquid Graphics touch screen.

Additionally, the BlackBerry Bold 9900 includes built-in support for NFC (Near Field Communications) and Augmented Reality.

The phone packs 8 GB of internal memory, 768 MB RAM, as well as microSD slot for memory expansion (up to 32 GB).

In addition, an average 5.0-megapixel photo snapper that supports 720p HD video recording and playback has been included as well.
