Last week, Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion announced the launch of a new handset in the Bold lineup, the BlackBerry Bold 9650, previously spotted around the web as Tour2, which has just been spotted in FCC's courtyard. Documents spotted on the government agency’s website show that the new device has received all the necessary approvals, being ready to make an appearance on the market.

The new BlackBerry Bold 9650 should arrive in the United States on the airwaves of Sprint, which already unveiled plans to make it available for purchase come May 23. Although there are no official details announced for the time being, there are great chances that the handset will make an appearance at Verizon Wireless too.

In case there are some who might have missed previous reports on the new BlackBerry Bold 9650, we should note that it comes with a 480 x 360 pixel resolution display, coupled with a full QWERTY keyboard and with a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus, flash and video recording functionality.

Boasting 512 MB of Flash memory, the new device enables users to add up to 32GB of removable storage space into the mix, via support for microSD memory cards (a 2 GB microSD card included in the package). On the connectivity side, the BlackBerry Bold 9650 sports support for CDMA EV-DO, HSPA and UTMS (2100 MHz) networks (world phone), Wi-Fi b/g, Bluetooth, built-in GPS receiver and a 3.5 mm stereo headset jack.

The features list of the new mobile phone includes access to up to 10 supported email accounts, access to the BlackBerry App World, media player and easy access to social networking sites, including Facebook, Flickr or MySpace. MMS and IM features are also present, including the BlackBerry Messenger, all inside a device powered by BlackBerry OS 5. When landing at Sprint, the handset will be priced at $199.99 upon the signing of a two-year service agreement with the carrier and after a $100 mail-in rebate.
