Video game developer BioWare is ready to deliver more events for its MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic after the success and popularity of the recent Rakghoul Plague, which was introduced via the big 1.2 patch for the game.

James Ohlen, who is the game director working on The Old Republic, has stated on Twitter that, “The Rakghoul plague was a very popular event. You’re going to see more surprises like it in the future.”

In order to make sure that the upcoming events are as solid, BioWare is inviting players of the MMO to offer feedback on the official forums and say exactly which elements of the Rakghoul Plague event they found most enjoyable.

BioWare is seeking ways of keeping players interested in The Old Republic after they announced that, while overall subscription numbers are still high, they are seeing fewer concurrent players engaging with the MMO during peak hours.

Developers also admitted that they were willing to do almost anything to keep server populations up and that probably means that more big events are planned for the coming months.

The Rakghoul Plague was introduced via in-game news broadcasts and many players were surprised by the quests and the new content that was added, which made them more susceptible to taking place than simply reading about a new event in an official forum post.

Analysts have suggested that the number of paying players for The Old Republic has peaked during February of this year, when it reached 1.7 million, and that the MMO is headed for a long and steady decline, set to reach a low of 1.25 million in March of next year.

Before the title was out, both BioWare and Electronic Arts have officially stated that they needed as little as half a million subscribers to recoup the costs of the MMO and that every other player over that mark was pure profit.
