Mass Effect 2 came out just a week ago, but it already managed to impress both the critics and the gaming community. The faster paced gameplay, the improved graphics and the story that links in such a unique way to the original Mass Effect game have pushed the RPG towards the front seats at any upcoming game-award show.

But the title's success has also pushed the boundaries of expectations for BioWare, and the developer plans to meet the new "line in the sand" with more than just enthusiasm. Believing that tomorrow must always be a better day than today was, the studio is looking forward to the grueling task of generating an even bigger success.

Speaking to CVG, the co-founder of BioWare, Ray Muzyka, believes that the company will always continue to improve its performance, always delivering a better game than its previous release. "The way we approach it is that each game has to be better than the last one," Muzyka says.

"That's always been true for the last 20 years we've been doing this, that's just what we do. It's kind of in our culture now. I think the team finds it reassuring that you've done something good, you've got great sales, great critical success, but they're driven by making the next thing even better. That's what drives me."

And while the company's latest games, Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2, might prove to be a mountain too high to leap in one bound, if not to climb at all, Muzyka thinks that it's exactly this challenge that the past imposes upon it that will push the studio to excel. "If it wasn't difficult it wouldn't be worth while," Muzyka explains. "Our best work is still ahead of us. That's why I'm doing it, because I think our best work is still ahead of us and that's why our teams are doing it I think."
