BioWare, as the developer, and Electronic Arts, as the publisher, have announced that they are releasing a new application, called Gift of the Yeti, on Facebook, which will be playable by all those who have an account and allows those who play it to get 10 dollars off the price of a new copy of Dragon Age: Origins, when bought from the official web site of Electronic Arts.

The offer is open to everyone in the United States or Canada who wants to get the best role playing experience of 2009 until January 1, 2010, and BioWare is also saying that it will be donating up to 100,000 dollars to the Child's Play charity, depending on the amount of people who are participating in Gift of the Yeti.

Ray Muzika, one of the co-founders of BioWare and the man in charge of role playing games and MMO development at Electronic Arts, said that “Gift of the Yeti is BioWare’s digital holiday card to its fans. We use social networking as a powerful tool to connect meaningfully with our tremendous fan community. Gift of the Yeti is a fun, engaging holiday present from BioWare to our fans, the first in a series of compelling social experiences from BioWare Labs.”

The Gift of Yeti game is based around helping Santa Claus deliver gifts to various recipients and players will compete with their friends and can also request their help to complete the task. The game has a backstory that will be revealed layer by layer each day up until Christmas.

By delivering more gifts on the Facebook app, players will be able to determine BioWare to donate more money on their behalf to Child's Play, which is dedicated to bringing the joy of play to kids that are in treatment in children hospitals.
