The team at BioWare working on the new Dragon Age: Inquisition video game says that it welcomes comparison and competition with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt because it improves the overall quality of the role-playing genre.

Patrick Weekes tells an audience at PAX Australia, quoted by Gamespot, that, “I came to BioWare because I love games. And I hope that the next Witcher game is fantastic and I hope that ours is fantastic, and I hope that people buy both and play both.”

He adds, “Every time another great game comes out, and raises the bar, that's not threatening; it's only threatening if we don't think we can ever do anything better. So we look at something and go 'that's a fantastic game. How am I going to incorporate that awesome thing and do it in a BioWare fashion?’”

Weekes believes that the only real competition at BioWare is with previous incarnations of their own franchises.

At the moment, the studio is working on Dragon Age: Inquisition, which is set to take place in Orlais and will incorporate the choices that players have made in the series up to now.

The game is expected to launch on the PC, current-gen consoles, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 in 2014 and will be powered by the Frostbite 3 engine.

Limited details have been offered on the story so far.

At the same time, some kind of Mass Effect experience is in development at BioWare, although the team says it will not use any of the known character or conflicts.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is in development at CD Projekt RED and will be offered in the spring of 2014 on the PC, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

The game will be the final one in the trilogy and will see Geralt deal with the trauma of his past.
