Ken Levine has talked about the possibility of a BioShock based movie project, saying that Irrational is working on it and that there are no certainties about the project that is set to be produced by Gore Verbinski.

At the moment it seems that the BioShock movie lacks enough financing and presumably work is being done on the script as the team also looks for the money needed to begin shooting.

Talking to a sports station in New York, Ken Levine, who is the leader of the Irrational team that created the first BioShock, has said, “I will say that it's still an active thing. And it is something we are still actively talking about and actively working on.

He added, “I can't tell you whether - you know, the movie business is complicated - I can't tell you whether it's going to happen for sure or it's not going to happen for sure. But it's something we are actively discussing, quite actively, and actively working on.”

Levine also said that the movie cannot keep the same structure as a video game, with the identity of the main character hidden for most of the story.

There has been a lot of talk lately about movies that draw their inspiration from video games, with the boss of Valve, Gabe Newell, saying that a Half Life movie would only ever happen if the team that created the series has overall creative control.

A representative from Blizzard also mentioned that Starcraft could be interesting material for a series of movies but insists that the company would only be interested if top talent, like James Cameron, the creators of three dimensional block buster Avatar, would be interested in working on it.

At the moment Ken Levine is working on BioShock Infinite, a new video game set for 2012 that is set to take place on a flying city called Columbia.
