Ken Levine, the leader of Irrational Games and the creator of the BioShock concept, has acknowledged that he might at some point return to the setting of Rapture to create more video game but insisted that his current focus is on BioShock Infinite.

Talking to CVG at the Gamescom event in Cologne Ken Levine said that, “Leaving Rapture was very, very personally difficult for me. It was my whole life. I don't have kids, it's like my child. I feel that connection to Andrew Ryan, Sander Cohen -- a sick group of people to feel a connection to but I do. I just felt that we had said all we needed to say about it... at the time. I mean, never say never. But right now that's how we feel about it.”

When it comes to coming back he seems interested but not in the near future, adding, “I mean, life's a long time. But I'd HAVE to have an idea that drove that. I'd have to spring from the idea.”

BioShock Infinite was just been announced after months of speculation related to the new game that Irrational was working on, with the team saying that the new title is set to arrive at some point in 2012 presumably on all home console and on the PC.

The new game does not take place underwater but rather high up in the air in 1912, when the air island Columbia plays host to a variety of momentous events.

The game will set the player as a detective with links to the Pinkerton detective agency that is tasked with finding a strange little girl that seems to have a big secret.

The basic gameplay of BioShock Infinite seems pretty similar to that of previous titles in the series, with both weapons and plasmids used to defeat both human enemies and constructs that seem to blend man and machine.
