Xbox 360 games appeal to movie makers, it seems

After watching a poor Hitman movie, waiting for the Halo motion picture and contemplating the idea of Gears of War in local cinemas, BioShock seems to get ready to be part of the game-movie tie-in gang. Too bad that the Hollywood screenplay writers' strike goes on and the movie will probably be delayed infinitely.

Keep in mind that the BioShock movie is just a rumor for now, but one thing that pleases me is that its neat plot will once again be used, this time on the big screens. This piece of information comes from Joystiq, which goes something like: "A reliable source within a major film production company has told Joystiq that the two have been getting along famously, with a movie adaptation of 2K's successful franchise already being discussed by the Big Daddies internally." It must be the second BioShock-related rumor we've heard in the past week, the first referring to the game's follow-up, BioShock 2, seemingly a prequel of the first title.

A couple of seconds of Maths and it all becomes pretty clear to us: the screenplay writers will probably end their strike soon and the production of the BioShock movie will start. After the movie's finished (hopefully till November), the original game's publisher will create a pretty neat strategy and launch the gaming title and motion picture at the same time in cinemas/game stores, probably at Halloween time. Well, at least that's what I would do if had a great media phenomenon like BioShock on my hands.

However, October will be the month of Resident Evil 5 and its popularity will surely make even BioShock 2 and BioShock the movie seem like dust blown in the wind... or will it? In case the motion-picture-related rumors don't come true, at least we've got the second title in the series to feast our eyes upon.
