Says she would rather be called than have to figure it out

With more and more celebrities taking to Twitter, the micro-blogging site, to keep in touch with their fans all over the world, one star that refuses to bow down to the advances and technology is Beyonce. The singer admits in a recent interview that she would rather keep in contact via the traditional way, that is, by phone, than have to figure Twitter out, as the Huffington Post can confirm.

The star, who is now in the middle of her “I Am… Sasha Fierce” tour, says that she feels old-fashioned about many things, especially when she draws a parallel between herself and her younger sister Solange. Twitter, for instance, is foreign territory for her, as Beyonce herself admits, but, at the same time, she also refuses to learn her way around it. She prefers keeping it simple with a phone call instead, she says.

“My sister is the Twitter queen. She told me about the twittering, but I don’t get it, I feel like I’m getting really old. I’m like, what? I don’t understand. Just call me.” Beyonce tells in a recent interview. Of course, she is not the first celebrity to turn her back to Twitter, despite the increasing number of stars who take to the site to usher fans into their personal life and, thus, gain more popularity.

Of these stars, actors Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore are perhaps the most active. Just recently, Demi saved an unknown woman’s life via Twitter, when she re-posted a message she received from the suicidal woman and word eventually got to the police who were able to reach her in time and prevent her from harming herself.

Ashton too uses Twitter to do good deeds, such as doing his part to help combat malaria by donating money to a cause. The actor, Demi’s husband, announced recently that he would give 10,000 mosquito nets to the “Malaria No More” organization if he managed to reach the one-million-Twitter-follower threshold before CNN. When the task was completed, the actor posted a video online, showing him holding a $100,000 check for the mosquito nets, as promised.

Ashton Kutcher labeled his victory over CNN as one illustrating the win of “we the people” over the “establishment.” Nevertheless, his gesture was seen as heartfelt by the media and fans all over the world. Reaching one million followers also marked a record for Twitter.
