Wet finally has a home. And, no, that's not a joke. Before it was disbanded as part of the merger between Activision and Blizzard, Sierra was set to be the publisher of a videogame called Wet, which is being created by a studio based in Montreal, Canada named A2M, staffed by former employees of Ubisoft Montreal.

As other titles, like Brutal Legend and Ghostbusters, Wet became an orphan and the developer began looking around for a publisher willing to put up the money needed to finish the game and get it out to players. Now, it seems that Bethesda Softworks has become the publisher for Wet.

The information comes courtesy of product listing on game selling services such as GameFly, CD Universe and Amazon. These three list Bethesda as being the publisher while delivering different release dates. Amazon is saying that the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 versions of Wet are set to be released on August 31, with CD Universe listing a September 16 launch date and with GameFly stating that the game will only be out on September 30.

The initial announcement regarding Wet came in late 2007 and reports were indicating an over the top third person action title featuring a young and attractive mercenary that was seeking revenge on a mysterious older man who had been said to have wronged her. There are elements borrowed from videogames like Prince of Persia and Tomb Raider, and from movies like Kill Bill.

Rubi, the mercenary protagonist, can shoot her way out of trouble, slash enemies using a sword and gets around in the same acrobatic style pioneered in videogames by Lara Croft. The game relies on quick movement, tough fire fights and a certain cinematic style. When Bethesda makes an announcement about picking up the game, we will probably find out more about the way Wet looks.
