14 DAY TRIAL // The sister of kidnapping victim Amanda Berry has held a press conference, speaking about her return on behalf of the family.
Beth Serrano describes their emotion upon seeing the woman they thought dead being brought back to them.
Privacy was the key word in Serrano's statement, as Amanda needs to recover and heal after being held in captivity for 10 years by 52-year-old Ariel Castro.
“I want to thank the public and the media for their support and encouragement over the years. At this time, our family would request privacy so my sister and niece and I can have time to recover,” she says.
Elizabeth Smart, another high-profile kidnapping victim, has advised Berry to take her time and warned her that readjustment would take a while, with privacy being tantamount to a full recovery.
