14 DAY TRIAL // FileMaker has released Bento 4 for Mac, and new versions of its iPhone and iPad solutions as well. Bento is a popular suite of database and organizing solutions for Apple system users.
Bento 4, now available from the Mac App Store in addition to boxed and digital download copies, comes with many new features, FileMaker said.
These include the ability to print labels, export libraries with data, an option to automatically add geographical locations to records and lock down forms, and more.
“People just love the way Bento helps them organize their lives – especially their work tasks like managing contacts and tracking projects,” said Ryan Rosenberg, vice president of marketing and services for FileMaker, Inc.
“We’ve enhanced the entire product line: Bento for Mac, Bento for iPad, and Bento for iPhone to provide you with a major productivity boost at your desk and when you’re on the go,” Rosenberg added.
Existing users can upgrade to Bento 4 for $20. A new license costs $49, or $99 for a family pack (five licenses).
As for Bento 1.1 for iPhone and Bento 1.1 for iPad, the new releases have both received “significant updates,” FileMaker claims.
A major new enhancement is the ability to record voice memos into media fields and tie them to records - “perfect for capturing events, logging meetings for later review, and just capturing notes without typing,” the developer says.
Bento 4 for Mac is supported for voice memo synchronization. The iOS apps can also sync iCal tasks from the Mac, edit simple list data, and use related records to link libraries.
Multi-tasking and the improved support for the iPhone Retina display round up the new features list.
FileMaker also said that Bento for iPhone and iPad now comes localized in various different languages, including Japanese, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Dutch.
Priced at $4.99, Bento 1.1 for iPhone and Bento 1.1 for iPad are each sold separately. Existing users can download and update to the new versions for free.
