FileMaker has announced Bento for the iPad, a new version of its personal database service that allows users to manage contacts, track projects, plan events, and more, which can be used as a standalone app, or can be synchronized with Bento 3 for Mac.

Bento for iPad offers the unique ability to simply touch the screen to edit information in choice fields, date fields, rating fields, and checkboxes. To watch videos, view photos, and send emails, a quick tap is all it takes. Users do not need to leave the app to browse web links in Safari. As customers would expect, the software is based on Bento for iPhone and has been enhanced to make the most of the increased screen real estate.

“The details stored in Bento are now larger and easier to read,” FileMaker explains on its website. “In landscape, a split screen view shows both a complete records list and a single record's details simultaneously. Rotate the iPad to portrait to focus on one record at a time. Even enter numbers with ease, thanks to the large, custom on-screen keypad.” It adds that the iPad version of Bento offers background themes with coordinated fonts. These have been specifically designed for the tablet device, so that data looks as good as possible.
