The “Batfleck” controversy is yet to die down and Ben Affleck is finally speaking out on it. This is the first time he addresses landing the Batman role in Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” sequel since the official announcement.

Above is a segment of his new interview with Jimmy Fallon, in which he explains how he prepared for the backlash following the casting news.

Yes, that’s right, he knew people would hate him for landing the Batman part.

Movie studio people told him, after he got the part, to stay away from the Internet for a few days, while the news sunk in with fans.

He thought it was a joke at first.

“I was like ‘I'm a big boy. I can handle it. I handle [expletive]… I'm very tough’,” he laughs.

The first time he went online after the announcement, he realized he wasn’t as tough as he thought, so he ended up following the advice to not read his own press for a while.

Despite all this, he’s clearly ecstatic about the movie, of which he says it will move into a different direction than Chris Nolan’s “Dark Knight” trilogy.

“It's so awesome man, I'm so excited. It's a very hard thing to describe without giving away the story,” Ben gushes.

The film will be out in 2015.
