Today, Motorola Mobility and Bell Canada announced the upcoming availability of the Android-powered Motorola XT860 4G on the airwaves of this wireless carrier on the Canadian market.

The new device comes with increased levels of performance, and with enhanced functionality through a sliding design, which pairs a large touchscreen display with a full five-row QWERTY keyboard.

The 4.0-inch qHD touchscreen display can provide users with clear images and a great viewing experience when it comes to watching videos while on the go.

Moreover, there is a dual-core application processor included into the mix, providing fast web browsing capabilities, as well as support for demanding games, and more.

“The Motorola XT860 4G is the superphone for the superhuman task of balancing our personal and business lives,” said David Petrou, sales director, Motorola Mobility Canada.

“With a dual core processor, ultra-efficient 5th row QWERTY and powerful multimedia features, you're up to the challenge.”

The new device is based on Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, and supports Google Mobile Services like Google Maps 5.0 with 3D maps and Navigation, Google Talk, and Browsing, as well as a Music Player powered by TuneWiki.

The specifications list of the new device also includes an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with dual LED flash and support for 1080p video recording. It also comes with a front-facing camera for video calling.

With 16GB of internal memory and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space, the new mobile phone can accommodate videos, songs, photos and other personal files as well.

“Bell has established itself as Canada's superphone destination and we're excited to add the Motorola XT860 4G - our first superphone with a full keyboard - to our already impressive portfolio of these powerful devices,” said Tony Grewal, Director of Products at Bell Mobility.

“On Canada's best network, the XT860 will offer a range of benefits for both business and consumer customers,” he continued.

The new device also comes with a series of comprehensive business features, such as GA Lookup for eMail & Calendar access, or remote document access (QuickOffice). It also offers complex security, password and data encryption capabilities.

For the time being, Bell did not offer info on the availability or pricing of Motorola XT860 4G, but previous rumors suggested August 4th would be the release date for this device.
