It's one thing to make an OLED HTDV. Those things may be rare, but they aren't exactly unheard of. Some are already selling after all.

But it's another thing to finally make and release a 55-inch curved OLED HDTV. LG has done just this though.

True, the item was initially revealed back in April, but LG has only now gotten around to releasing it.

Shipments should start shortly, if they haven't already, for 15 million won ($13,500 / €10,235).

Specs still haven't been fully listed, but some technical details are known. The curved LG HDTV weighs 17 kilograms (37 pounds) and uses a carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) frame.

The resolution is of 1920 x 1080 pixels. I'm sure a 4K UHD model will be made eventually, but the 55EA9800, as the curved LG OLED HDTV is called, is not one of them.
