As we said before, there are plenty of PCs calling upon the new CPUs

There are three systems in Velocity Micro's lineup that have received an update to the list of possible central processing units.

Like Digital Storm, Velocity Micro wasted no time in putting Intel's latest central processing units to good use.

Prospective customers can examine, among other things, the Razor Z90, Vector Z20, and the Edge Z40 systems and take their pick at their leisure.

The starting price is a nice $849, but every bit of hardware will add to it, so don't expect a decent Ivy Bridge Configuration to cost so little.

That said, gaming machines aren't all that people can expect to find. Velocity Micro's formal announcement mentions home & office desktops, as well as workstations.

"Velocity Micro has always had a cutting edge product lineup, frequently offering Intel's latest processors to their enthusiast customers on launch day," said CJ Bruno, Intel VP, GM Intel Americas.

"We're excited that Velocity Micro has continued that tradition by making the 3rd Gen Intel Core processors available in their industry-leading performance desktop offerings."

Third-generation Core central processing units have better graphics, 3D transistors, higher energy efficiency, significant overclocking headroom and, of course, better clock speeds than Sandy Bridge.

Remember though: Core i7-2600K and i7-2700K have experienced a price cut, so they may be more convenient, if they are part of the choice list at all, especially if you are going to get an add-in graphics board too.

The HD 4000 integrated GPU in the Core 3000 collection is all well and good, but not really necessary in a computer if an AIB exists, even with LucidLogix Virtu switching.

Of course, there is energy efficiency to consider, so the ultimate decision lies with customers themselves. All we can advise them is to take a look at all of their potential choices, from this or other manufacturer, before deciding on a purchase.
