Both desktops and laptops now have third-generation chips

Now that Intel's newest quad-core central processing units are up for sale, makers of pre-configured personal computers are wasting no time in updating their portfolios.

Digital Storm has made an officially announcement regarding its PC collection and the new move on the part of Intel.

One might even call the press release somewhat redundant, considering that it would have been strange if the company hadn't upgraded its desktops and laptops.

After all, it's not every day that a CPU maker sends out new and improved 22nm-based Core Series chips.

Still, some may not have necessarily been aware of the new CPUs, and there are just as many people who would have been surprised if Digital Storm hadn't made a boisterous claim of some sort.

"We've tested Ivy Bridge in every one of our systems and we've measured extraordinary overclocks at 4.8 GHz at unbelievably low temperatures across the board," remarked Rajeev Kuruppu, Digital Storm's director of product development.

"With the addition of Intel's latest chipset, our entire line of gaming PCs and laptops offer customers the utmost in computing power."

Ivy Bridge is unusual compared to Sandy Bridge, and all other CPUs, due to its use of 3D Gate transistors.

You can go here to read the technobabble. We'll just say that the number of transistors possible to cram in the same die space is significantly boosted, as is the power efficiency, all for a negligible increase to the price.

The main two Ivy Bridge-powered desktops that Digital Storm is ready to sell are the Aventum and Marauder. Of course, people who like to move about will be more interested in laptops, so they can go here to check out some of those instead.

Before you lunge at any product though, keep in mind that many of Digital Storm's rivals are setting up, or already have set up, similar deals. Stay tuned as we check them out.
