Harmonix and MTV Games, the two companies working on the Rock Band 3 franchise, have announced that the downloadable content for Rock Band 3 for this week is focused on the classic tracks of the Bee Gees, with additions coming from Procol Harum and legendary blues man B.B. King.

The Bee Gees have a career which spans more than 40 years and they have managed to sell more than 200 million albums all over the world, impressing listeners with their song writing and with their three part harmonies.

Rock Band 3 uses the same mechanics to simulate them as last year's The Beatles Rock Band and the songs from the Bee Gees will really test the player's abilities.

All the tracks from the Bee Gees include a Pro Guitar and Pro Bass element for those who want more depth in their music simulation.

The full track list for the DLC is:

Bee Gees – “Jive Talkin’” Bee Gees – “Night Fever” Bee Gees – “Stayin’ Alive” Bee Gees – “Nights on Broadway” Bee Gees – “Tragedy” Bee Gees – “You Should Be Dancing” B.B. King – “The Thrill Is Gone” Procol Harum – “A Whiter Shade of Pale”

The B.B. King track has seen selected because it won a Grammy Award for the artist and also offers ample material for both Pro Guitar and Pro Bass.

The Procol Harum classic is used because of the keyboard sections that highlight one of the big new features in Rock Band 3.

The songs are priced at 1.99 dollars, but those tracks that have Pro upgrades will cost 0.99 dollars more.

Recently parent company Viacom has announced that it planned to sell Harmonix, the company which originally created Guitar Hero and is now working with Rock Band.

The move comes just as the music genre is hit by a significant decrease in sales.
