Android mobile phone users can now enjoy a new application available on the Android Market for their devices, in the form of BeamReader PDF Viewer from SLG Mobile, Inc. According to the company, the new solution will offer Android users the possibility to view PDF e-mail attachments and documents on their handsets, without the need of server processing or Internet connectivity.

One of the main features of the BeamReader PDF Viewer for Android is its ability to render actual fonts in documents, without affecting the formatting. Business users and not only will be able to enjoy the same experience as when viewing PDF files on a desktop computer, and BlackBerry phone users might be already familiar with what the application is capable of, the company added. The release of BeamReader for Android, notes SLG Mobile, is meant to leverage its expertise in the PDF rendering technology optimized for Java based mobile devices.

“BeamReader embodies the most advanced on-device PDF rendering technology available for the Android platform. Some of the key product features include: fast full fidelity rendering, intuitive granular zoom and document navigation, support for all types of PDF documents (e.g. scanned, faxed, schematics, etc.), support for encrypted and password protected documents, text search within the document, support for bookmarks, and support for embedded links. BeamReader for Android can be downloaded directly from the Android Market where it is currently available as a free beta,” the company stated.

Moreover, it seems that the application might soon become available pre-installed on various Android handsets. SLG Mobile has announced that it is currently in talks with various phone makers to pre-load BeamReader for Android on future devices, due to the fact that it is a software solution that seems to work great on almost all kind of phones running under Google's operating system. Additional details on the application can be found here.

”Thirty thousand users cannot be wrong,” said David Shalamberidze, CTO of SLG Mobile. “Since we released BeamReader for Android to the Android Market only two weeks ago, that is how many users have already tried the software launching BeamReader to the top of the productivity category, with that number growing by the thousands every day. We are delighted to see the exceptional reviews that users have given BeamReader with some calling it the best PDF viewer ever.”
