I am sure that when people hear things like "be the zombie", they start thinking about Stubbs, the world's most famous one. Well, he (or it) might be in trouble now, since a new brain-eater has appeared as playable character. His name is Robert and he's searching for his missing wife. That is the Cry of the Infected.

Developed by Cyborg Arm Games, this title is a first person shooter (FPS) that only brings you 1-2 hours of gameplay. Don't start laughing yet, it might become an episodic game and could be kind of cool, plus, its price is as low as $4. Yup, a FPS cheaper than a casual game!

In Cry of the Infected we'll get to see an entire city of civilians turned into zombies, as a result of the classic warfare experiment gone wrong. In the city torn apart by the outbreak, you will play the role of Robert, a sweet little zombie who starts searching for his wife. He has to fight against groups of desperate soldiers who shoot anything that moves and even some zombies who attack their own kind in fits of agony.

"The story is really told through two perspectives," said Luke Porter, creator of Cry of the Infected, "You experience this gruesome environment as a zombie, but you also find pieces of a letter from one of the soldiers assigned to contain the zombie outbreak."

Judging from the screenshots and having in mind that we're talking about an indie game developer that doesn't have the financial power of the giants, Cry of the Infected looks really good and actually makes me think of Counter Strike 1.5 or 1.6. But we're still expecting a game that allows you to become the master zombie, a combination of RTS and RPG. Just imagine how cool it would be to control your mindless zombies and lead attacks on crowded malls, supermarkets and other places where the scared victims are hiding!
