Eidos Interactive, which is now owned by Square Enix, is announcing that it plans to release a demo version of Battlestations: Pacific on April 30 on both Xbox Live and the Games for Windows Live Markeplace.

In the upcoming demo for Battlestations: Pacific, players will get access to a mission taken from the American campaign, called “Divine Winds of Leyte,” described as one of the more action-oriented missions, dealing with the kamikaze attacks that occurred towards the end of the war at the Battle of the Leyte Gulf. There are also two multiplayer modes offered, called Island Capture and Siege, that can be played offline.

Battlestations: Pacific will allow players to battle through the War in the Pacific, from 1941 to 1945, from the perspective of both the American side and that of the Imperial Japanese side. If you choose to play as the Americans, you will have to make sure that history plays out as it should, with Japan defeated, but as a soldier in the Empire of the Rising Suns' forces, you can also attempt to change the course of history and lead your nation to victory.

There are no less than 28 engrossing missions and the game also offers five new multiplayer modes that are accessible to eight players, featuring more than 100 units, in the air, on land and at the sea, active at the same time.

Eidos is saying that it has reworked the graphics engine and the damage and physics systems to make the game more accurate while also adding new units, like experimental jet fighters and fresh types of missiles.

Battlestations: Pacific is set to be released on May 12 in North America and on May 15 in Europe. The game is coming to both the Xbox 360 and the PC.
