It's fast, it's furious, it's for the infantry only

While some of the PC community is trying to resurrect its most popular multiplayer first-person shooter, DICE is looking at the future, hard at work getting ready to topple Modern Warfare 2 from the top of the charts. The game is getting close to its March 2 release, so DICE is putting the finishing touches on it, giving trailers about the title's features as it wraps things up. Last Friday, it released the single-player story trailer, and, now, gamers get to marvel at a new multiplayer mode, Squad Rush.

Set to be a fast-paced mode, Squad Rush takes place on relatively small maps, with no vehicles and two bases over whose dominance players will fight for. Teams are made up of four players each, which means that one way or another, the round will be over pretty fast.

Besides the frantic combat action, the trailer takes the opportunity to once again showcase the extensively destructive environment of Bad Company 2, and if the battle starts around an intact building, by the end of the trailer, the two teams are fighting over nothing but a wall-less floor with a crate in the middle.

Squad Rush is a GameStop preorder exclusive for 30 days in North America, on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but the PC version of Battlefield Bad Company 2 will come with the mode unlocked. It looks like someone is trying to make up for taking out the mod tools on the PC, as well as restricting the dedicated server files.

As for the rest of the things that we're still looking forward to from the game, the PC beta for BC2 is set to kick off on January 28, where you'll have a guaranteed spot as long as you preorder the game. If you didn't, it's everyone for themselves, so keep an eye open for invites and special beta keys.
