After the reveal from yesterday that not one but three major expansions are coming to Battlefield 3, developer DICE has presented some more details about the first add-on, called Close Quarters.

While other games rely on downloadable content to present maps or weapons every few months, DICE wants the add-ons for its Battlefield 3 first person shooter to have a bigger scope.

As such, it’s preparing three big add-ons for the game in the form of Close Quarters, Armored Kill, and End Game.

After revealing this yesterday, the first actual details about Close Quarters have been released, so check them out below.

“Battlefield 3: Close Quarters is a themed expansion pack bringing the team play of Battlefield 3 to tight indoor environments. The frantic close quarters infantry combat is amplified by unprecedented high definition destruction, new ways to play, more weapons and added persistence,” DICE revealed about the add-on.

“The HD Destruction in Close Quarters lets players riddle the environment with bullets, reducing entire locales to ruin. Everything from furniture to plaster can be shot to pieces, and players can see the result of the mayhem as rubble and broken pieces pile up on the floor. The tight level design and many opportunities for vertical gameplay mean players will need to bring their A game if they want to stay alive in this highly competitive theater of war.”

DICE has also confirmed a few tidbits of information about the next two expansions for Battlefield 3, in the form of Armored Kill and End Game.

“This fall will also bring the expansion pack Battlefield 3: Armored Kill. Featuring all-out vehicle warfare with new tanks, ATV’s, and mobile artillery, it also includes the biggest map in Battlefield history. Come winter, it is time for the fourth expansion pack Battlefield 3: End Game.”

Battlefield 3 already has one major expansion, in the form of Back to Karkand. It will receive Close Quarters sometime in June, followed by the two other add-ons.
