Electronic Arts has revealed the first actual details on the upcoming expansions for its Battlefield 3 shooter, confirming that not one but three full-fledged add-ons will be released throughout the year.

Battlefield 3 impressed lots of players with a stunning multiplayer mode that placed a heavy emphasis on teamwork and cooperation across sprawling maps.

Developer DICE added more content to the online mode with the first and only add-on for the game, Back to Karkand, which appeared last year. Since then, not a lot has been heard about the game, which prompted some harsh responses from the community.

Now, according to Eurogamer, EA will soon reveal three major expansions for the game throughout the year.

Close Quarters is the first DLC, which arrives in June. It focuses, as its name suggests, on indoor infantry battles, bringing with it four new maps and ten new weapons.

Armored Kill will be released at a later time and focuses on combat between tanks, offering the biggest map in the history of the Battlefield series. New vehicles are also included, but no other details are known as of yet.

Last but not least, there’s a special End Game add-on, which DICE is keeping a secret until the time is right.

Expect to hear some more details about all of these expansions soon.
