It is quite impressive

Comic books have been quite popular over the years, transforming their characters into pop culture icons. As such, other entertainment genres couldn't have left them unexploited and video games were no exception, as they feature a lot of heroes or villains from comics.

One of the latest examples is Rocksteady Studios' Batman: Arkham Asylum, which is set to appear at the end of August, published by Eidos. Already the hype is growing by leaps and bounds, with executives from the European publisher saying it will be one of the best-selling games of the year.

The team at Rocksteady has now revealed some more interesting details about the game, which will not only track a specific history of the Dark Knight, but will take inspiration from the entire 70-year history of the caped crusader. The game consists of three types of play: the invisible predator mode, free fight and detective one. Each of them has its advantages and needs to be used in collaboration with the others in order for the super hero to take control of the infamous Arkham Asylum, which is under the Joker's reign.

All of the gadgets used by the Dark Knight to fight bad guys will be available for use in the game, including the Bathook or Batarang, and his cape will help soften his landings from big heights and to keep him masked during stealth sequences. The hero will turn into a true forensic investigator as he will need to uncover evidence and leads in regard to his Arch enemies, like the Joker or Poison Ivy.

“When we first started working on Batman we wanted to create the greatest Batman game ever,” said Rocksteady Studios' Lead Narrative Designer Paul Crocker. “To create a core batman experience. We really worked hard to create a great game first and then a great Batman game.”
