Aquarium staff still unsure if it's a boy or a girl

A few days back, we reported on how the beluga whale which inspired Rafi's “Baby Beluga” song passed away at its aquarium, most likely because of cancer-related health conditions.

However, we now bring you some good news with respect to the future of this species, as the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago recently witnessed the birth of a baby beluga whale.

The funny thing is that, for the time being, staff members are a bit unsure whether they should start handing out blue balloons and ribbons, or if it would perhaps be best to purchase some pink gifts for visitors instead.

Thus, until the baby is old and strong enough to undergo a physical examination, nobody can say for sure whether it is a boy or a girl.

However, this uncertainty does little to affect the overall joy brought about by this event, as both people working at the Shedd Aquarium and ordinary folks are incredibly enthusiastic about watching the baby beluga playing and bonding with its mother.
