Axiotron, the only company able to turn an Apple MacBook into a brand new tablet Mac has announced that its new ModBooks now come with the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics chipset. Additionally, the company also announced a new Quickflip Application for NVIDIA-powered Modbooks that enables screen rotation.

Upon introducing the new unibody notebooks, Apple revealed that the GeForce 9400M offers a 5x performance increase over previous integrated core-logic designs. According to the folks at NVIDIA, 16 parallel processing cores make the 9400M the most powerful integrated graphics processing unit available today.

As noted above, Axiotron also bundles a new app with the NVIDIA-powered Modbooks, called Quickflip. As part of the Axiotron Quickapps solution, Quickflip allows users to switch their Modbook’s screen rotation in 90-degree increments, switching between landscape mode and portrait mode whenever they want. According to the modders, users get a crystal clear display even in portrait mode, thanks to the wide horizontal viewing angles of the Modbook’s AnyView LCD panel.

“This change in the base system architecture provides a significant enhancement to the Modbook’s graphics processing power, including the ability to offer Quickflip to our customers,” said Axiotron CEO Andreas E. Haas. “Based on our tests, the Modbook’s ability to render images in graphics-intensive applications is markedly improved, so creative professionals and general users should find it to be a big leap forward for the Modbook.”

Axiotron felt it needed to do even more for its fans, thus introduced a special discount pricing through March 6 on the Modbook. Brand new units equipped with the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M chipset are available starting at $2,148. After the March 6 deadline, the same units will cost $100 more.

The Axiotron Modbook comes with a one-year limited hardware warranty that also covers its original MacBook base system components from Apple. Axiotron even has its own version of the Apple Care service, Modcare. It allows customers to purchase a two-year Modcare warranty extension.
