Competition for luxury phones

Asus Z802i is not your regular looking mobile phone. It aims mostly at those interested in owning devices capable of stating their high social level and also thick wallet. For those that can not afford a Vertu or any other luxury handsets, this will have to work just fine.

This new model from ASUS comes as a follow-up for the Z801i handset that it highly resembles both in design and performances. Just like the Vertu line of luxury phones, the Z802i is also built from an elegant combination of leather and metal. Still, this handset is more down-to-earth, designed for people that want their phone to respond to their every-day communication needs and not only to their showing-off.

The sharp, straight lines manage to make Asus Z802i a phone suitable for both men and women. Its black leather covering makes it look elegant, although a little bulky. The impression of large sizes should be put on account of the leather covering, as this handset proves to be quite slim, although within reasonable bounds.

The 1.2 inch external screen is another plus for the Z802i handset. Producers have made it scratch-proof with the help of a sapphire glass protection. This is a pretty special feature that will be difficult to find in other mobile phones.

The internal screen is a 2.2 inch TFT LCD capable of supporting a resolution of up to 240 x 320 pixels. That's an acceptable size for a clamshell phone, although it goes far from what many other evolved devices manage to bring. There is also a 2 megapixel camera with flash and an auto focus, meant to meet the user's demands for captures, although their quality will only classify as being an average one.

Other specifications also include a media player capable of supporting a large number of media files, including MP3, MPEG4, AAC, MPEG3 and 3GP playback. Connectivity is available through Bluetooth 1.2 with A2DP.

Asus Z802i is now available, although the price for this handset has not been specified up to this point.
