Computer maker Asus has just confirmed via their Facebook page that the recently released ASUS Eee Pad Transformer tablet PC is set to receive an update to the Android 3.1 Honeycomb operating system as soon as today.

The company made the said announcement during the Computex 2011 conference in Taipei, and brought the news to their Facebook fans as well.

“Hot off our Computex Press Conference, we've announced that the Android 3.1 Firmware update will be available via FOTA tomorrow, 5/31,” the said wall post reads.

Asus delivered no further info on how it aims at delivering the software update to its ASUS Eee Pad Transformer users around the world, but we should expect for the roll-out to be performed in phases.

Over the next few weeks, both Asus and its customers would be busy updating devices to the latest flavor of Android, which brings forth support for the new services Google put in place for Honeycomb users, such as movie rental in the Android Market.

Apparently, Asus is making big steps into the Android land, with the release of more devices powered by the platform, such as the Asus Padfone that went official yesterday.

The Asus Transformer is one of the most appealing Android device that landed on shelves this year, with high-end specs packed inside, and with a price set lower than what other similar tablets feature.

And there is also the physical keyboard that can be added into the mix, to expand the functionality of the tablet PC, and to extend its battery life.

In related news, we learn that the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer tablet PC is currently listed as available in stock at Amazon, priced at $572.99, and that the retailer says it would run out of supplies in one day.

Those who would like to purchase one of these beauties should hurry up to Amazon's website here and order one.

What should be noted here is that the aforementioned price tag includes the tablet PC alone. The accompanying keyboard is sold separately, and is available at Amazon here for $279.99.
