Computer maker Asus is expected to make available for purchase on the Australian market a new device running under Google's Android operating system, namely the Eee Pad Transformer.

This tablet PC hits shelves with a special accessory in tow, namely a keyboard that would make it look and act like a laptop.

Starting tomorrow, the new device should be made available for purchase for all Australians out there, both with and without the keyboard attached to it, it seems.

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer tablet PC would arrive on shelves in the country in two different flavors, 16GB Wi-Fi version, which would not have the said keyboard available to expand its functionality.

However, the company would also offer a keyboard-enabled flavor of the device, a 32GB Wi-Fi version, which would be more expensive than the former.

The 16GB model would be priced at $599, the guys over at Ausdroid note in a recent article, while the 32GB variant would cost $799.

The keyboard dock would be sold separately from the tablet PC, and should sport a price tag of around $200 when made available.

For the time being, Asus estimates that this would happen only sometime in July, but no specific release date was announced.

In addition to expanding the usability of the tablet PC, the said keyboard would also bring its own battery into the mix, which would increase the usage time from 8 to 16 hours.

Asus also announced that the 3G-enabled flavor of the Eee Pad Transformer should become available for purchase in Australia sometime during the third quarter of the ongoing year.

Moreover, the company confirmed that the device would be set to receive an update to the newer Android 3.1 Honeycomb operating system flavor sometime in August/September of this year.

Most probably, the software would be delivered to Eee Pad Transformer users in other markets as well at that time.
