While definitely disappointing, Asus delay of the Transformer Prime in Europe will also have an upside as this will enable the maker to ship the tablet with Android 4.0, aka Ice cream Sandwich, pre-installed.

The news comes direct from an Asus rep, who has been cited by Notebook Italia.

Those of you getting the Prime before this date will receive the update to Android 4.0 over-the-air sometime in January.

Initially, this was expected to arrive by the end of 2011, but it seems like Asus is taking its time on this one, although that isn’t necessarily a bad thing as it should give the company more time to properly test the port.

When it will become available in Europe, the Prime will retail for 599 EUR which gets you either the 64GB version of the Asus tablet or the 32GB model and the keyboard dock.
