Computer maker Asus is reportedly gearing up for the launch of a new mobile device, one that would be both a smartphone and a tablet PC at the same time, and which would sport the name of Asus PadFone.

The device was already announced to be on its way to make an appearance at this year's Computex, and is expected to be unveiled to the world as soon as today.

However, prior to the official announcement, some photos with the PadFone made an appearance into the wild, so that we could make an idea of what the device is all about.

Basically, it would arrive on shelves as a smartphone powered by Google's Android operating system. A good looking one, we might add.

The main selling point of the new device would be a docking tablet that has been included into the mix, which should provide it with expanded functionality.

To be more precise, the smartphone can be placed inside the tablet PC, which would enable users to enjoy content from the former on the larger screen the latter sports, the photos Pocketnow published show.

For the time being, specific info on how Asus' device would work is not available but, just as stated above, more on the matter should be unveiled as soon as today.

Even so, some possible features and capabilities did emerge, such as the fact that Asus built the tablet so as to enable users take photos with the smartphone's camera.

The phone would be placed in a dock on the back of the tablet, and the cover that protects the handset would include a hole through which one would be able to take photos or shoot videos using the smartphone's camera.

Apparently, the tablet would also sport dual speakers, and is expected to be released into the wild in two colors, namely copper and black. Stay tuned for more info on the new device, due out today.
