Gamers will have to deal with multiple opponents at once

The development team at Ubisoft has already revealed a lot of information about the new Assassin's Creed Syndicate, and it seems that the developers are aiming to overhaul one of the most important elements of the series: the combat system.

An official blog post from the publisher explains that the focus on current-gen consoles allows the company to tweak some of the core elements, with a focus on faster exchanges and with less latency than before.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate will have more than one enemy try and engage the player characters at once, and gamers will have to carefully use their weapons and gadgets to make sure that they are not overwhelmed.

Marc-Alexis Cote, the creative director working on the title, says that Jacob Frye will not be an elegant warrior, like other protagonists, and will do whatever he needs to win his battles.

He adds, "His style is very focused on close combat. You’ll see him breaking bones and really putting enemies on the ground and taking them down."

Ubisoft also says that Victorian London is a very different setting and the civilized nature of the city means that players will be unable to openly display weapons in most areas and will have to rely more on stealth.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate will have two main characters

Gamers will be able to play as Jacob Frye, but also as his twin sister Evie, and that gives the developers a way to switch the gameplay mechanics depending on the character and the mission they need to perform.

The London location and the move to the XIX century also mean that gamers will have to deal with newer technology, which includes a city that's defined by speed.

Battles can take place on carriages and gamers will have to work harder to escape the police when they are detected.

Ubisoft says it will not include multiplayer in the coming game because it wants to focus all resources on the development of a complex single-player story.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate will be out on the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the Xbox One from Microsoft on October 23 of this year and a PC version will arrive later in the year.
