Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, the latest installment in the successful series, has become the most pre-ordered game in Ubisoft's history, according to a new announcement made by the French company.

The Assassin's Creed franchise made its debut back in 2007, with the first title showcasing an ambitious idea but its gameplay was a bit dull.

Luckily, Assassin's Creed 2 blew all those things away last year, when it showcased a much better implementation of the ideas that made the original gain a loyal fanbase.

Since then, the franchise sold over 19 million units, and is gearing up to receive its newest title in the form of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, set to be released next month.

Ubisoft is extremely excited, as it has just announced that the game broke previous pre-order records for the company.

"Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is being heralded by the press as a single and multiplayer experience unlike any other," said Tony Key, Ubisoft's senior VP of sales and marketing.

"As evidenced by the record number of pre-orders and the success of the multiplayer beta, consumers can't wait to get their hands on Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, and we're looking forward to delivering them an experience they'll never forget."

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood also takes places in Italy, like the second title, in Rome, and features the same protagonist, Ezio Auditore da Firenze, as he aims at taking down the evil Borgia family.

Besides the single-player campaign, Brotherhood will also feature a unique multiplayer mode, in which people must go around and assassinate others through the streets of Rome.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood has been developed by Ubisoft Montreal and will be published by the company for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 16 in North America and November 19 in Europe.

A PC version is set to arrive in February 22 in the USA and March 26 in Europe, in 2011.
