Developers at Ubisoft that are working on the new Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood have stated that the city of Rome will be the biggest and the most varied in terms of landmarks and quests ever seen in the franchise, allowing the player a venue where he can perform the complex moves and assassinations that the series is famous for.

Vincent Pontbriand, who is a producer working on Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, has told Universal Gamer Database that, “For the locations, we’ve decided to make the biggest city ever created in any Assassin’s Creed game so a lot of the action takes place directly in Rome.”

He added, “With Assassins’s Creed, we always strive to be the historically accurate in the representation of the cities and the events that are in the game. Research is the foundation on which our work is based on, so long as it provides players a unique and entertaining experience”.

The fact that Rome is at the center of Brotherhood does not mean that the player will be kept inside the city for the entire duration of the video game.

Monte Circeo and Naples are mentioned by the producer as locations that the player will be sent to during the game and he even talks about one location that will involve a visit to destroy one of the futuristic war machines that Leonardo DaVinci has put together.

Brotherhood will be the first video game in the franchise that will have a multiplayer mode, which uses the streets of Rome as a backdrop for a complex cat of assassin characters to hunt each other.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is set to arrive on the Xbox 360 and on the PlayStation 3 on November 16 in the United States and three days later in Europe.

A PC version of the game is also worked on and should be launched in early 2011.

A beta version of the multiplayer section of Brotherhood will be launched in early October.
