Bohemia Interactive, as the developer, and 505 Games, as publisher, are announcing that the release date for ArmA II has been set for June 19, which is one week earlier than the initial projected launch window. The game should arrive exclusively for the PC and aims to offer players the best military simulator, building on the wealth of experience that Bohemia Interactive has in this genre.

ArmA II is set to tell the story of the 27th U.S. Marine Expeditionary Unit, which has been deployed to the little known nation of Chernarus, a former Soviet republic that is now about to be torn by civil war. As part of the elite Force Reconnaissance Team “Razor,” the player will need to fight six other factions while taking care not to hurt the civilian population of the area.

The game is full of interesting concepts. There's a “dynamic conversation system” that allows players to command squad mates, while also engaging in preset conversations. Bohemia has even introduced the difficulties inherent with not having a translator, by having some NPCs speak Czech and Russian.

The area modeled using the new Real Virtuality engine is 225 square kilometers big and has more than 1 million objects you can interact with. There are 81 weapons that can be used and 136 vehicles to get around more easily. Players will need to check out more than 50 villages and cities. The simulation extends to the types of ammunitions that can be used and to the weather conditions that affect military operations.

ArmA II also has support for co operative play in the campaign missions and supports a mission editor that can be used to create new maps and game experiences. The multiplayer component supports around 50 players in a variety of modes, which include the well-known Warfare mode.
