14 DAY TRIAL // Cleveland kidnapper Ariel Castro's death may have been wrongly classified as suicide. A report just released by the Ohio Prison System suggest that his death was accidental.
Castro was convicted in August in the abduction and rape of Amanda Berry, Michelle Knight and Gina DeJesus. He was convicted to life in prison and an extra 1,000 years.
He was found dead in his cell last month, having been strangulated with a sheet attached to a window hinge.
According to 19 Action News, the prison reports suggest that he may have been choking himself for pleasure, a process called “asphyxiophilia.”
“The sudden loss of oxygen to the brain and the accumulation of carbon dioxide can increase feelings of giddiness, lightheadness,” Wikipedia explains.
Castro's pants were down when he was found dead and he had the Bible open and photos of his family laid out in the cell.
