A new Android-based tablet PC was just made official, the Archos Arnova 7, which brings Android to a new lowest price point when it comes to tablets, as it features a price tag of only $99. With a 7-inch touchscreen on the front, it might not be the largest tablet PC out there, but that does not mean that it cannot offer a great experience to those who will purchase it.

The new device was packed with support for various multimedia capabilities, including audio and video playback, as well as with support for various applications and services available for the Android 2.2 Froyo OS is runs under.

“The ARNOVA 7 sports a 7 inch, widescreen resistive touchscreen. Thanks to the 800 x 480 pixel display you can surf the web just like on a PC (without needing to zoom on most sites) or view HD1 videos the way they’re meant to be seen,” the company notes.

“But all this high tech still sits in a 12mm thick tablet that weighs only 340 grams ; large enough to watch a video but light enough to hold comfortably too.”

Apparently, no specific info on the application processor it packs inside emerged for the time being, not on the amount of RAM it sports, but we do know that it will arrive on the market with 4GB of internal memory and with a MicroSDHC card slot. The tablet PC also comes to the market with WiFi (802.11 b/g) connectivity, as well as support for AppsLib store, though not the Android Market, it seems.

“Whether through the web browser or via one of the many applications available on the AppsLib store you can stay up to date with the latest news over the integrated WiFi connection,” the company notes.

“Access your favorite newspapers, sports or financial results directly from the tablet. You can even set different services to appear as live widgets on the home screen, letting you view all the information that matters to you the instant that you turn on your ARNOVA 7.”

The new tablet PC will not come to the market with a photo snapper, something that is usually found in high-end products. However, this does not come too much as a surprise, given the $99 price tag the device sports.
