Specialized equipment used by professional photographers typically costs quite a lot, but that doesn't seem to be the case with the latest precision medium-format camera from Arca-Swiss, the Rm2d, which provides a very interesting set of features and functions without really going overboard in terms of pricing. So, as PhotographyBlog informs us, the Arca-Swiss Rm2d precision medium format camera is a slimmer, lighter version of the company's well-known Rm3d model, which, according to the manufacturer, makes it a very good solution for architectural and travel photography as well as photo journalism.

Furthermore, similar to all of the ARCA-SWISS R cameras out there, the Rm2d has its own AIP (All In Plane) vertical shift in the focal plane, which means that there's no need for mounts when stitching is required.

Additionally, the manual horizontal shift of ± 15mm makes quick stitching possible, since the vertical shift of +20/-10mm takes place micrometrically.

The line of lenses with ARCA-SWISS R mounts is available in focal lengths from 23mm-250mm, while the precision of the focusing device allows for repeatable settings with 15 micron accuracy.

Composing shots is easy with its zoom viewfinder system which can be used with various focal lengths, while also being capable to display the various shifts.

The camera is compatible with all leading digital and film backs, not to mention the fact that, as the company puts it, “the R-line’s system compatibility ranges from the ARCA-SWISS R lens mount to the extensive assortment of ARCA-SWISS accessories.”

As mentioned right from the start, pricing for this thing is not exactly that high, compared to some of the other products in the same category, since the Arca-Swiss Rm2d sells for around 3090 Euro (no VAT included, though, which, in practice, means that the overall price for this precision medium format camera will actually be a tad higher, depending on the specifics of the local market).
