Apple has updated the main page of its web site not only with a shopping-event announcement, but also with three new iPhone adds. The Mac maker confirms that there are currently over 100,000 applications to choose from, for both iPhone and iPod touch, and lauds the networking capabilities of the former by showing how many things can be done on the iPhone simultaneously.

Multi-People, Where’s the Movie, and Gift are the three new TV spots recently posted by Apple online. In addition to showing off the great features of the iPhone 3GS, the first two ads also praise AT&T for handling the immense traffic generated by iPhone users. At the end of each commercial, Apple rhetorically asks: “Can your phone and your network do that?”

But whatever an ad’s main topic is, they continue to focus on content available on the iTunes App Store, with apps for “just about anything”, and just about any kind of user. The best example is Apple’s third ad -  Gift, which says that “the iPhone has all kinds of apps.” Of course, the user must first visit the App Store and make a few purchases before their home screen looks like this (left). Then, Apple outlines what customers can find and use by visiting the online venue:

- apps to pick the perfect gift (Target)  - apps to pick the perfect wall color (Color Change)  - apps for heading outdoors (Snow Report)  - apps for staying indoors (Monopoly game)  - apps for finding a hotel (HotelPal) -  apps for finding your car (ZipCar)

In what has become customary at Apple, the company offers a direct link to iTunes, where folks can choose to download the apps featured in the ads. Visit Apple here to watch the new iPhone ads, and here (iTunes link) to have a closer look at the software that brings out the best in iPhone and iPod touch.
