Apple's video-editing software application, now at version 8.0.2, fixes an issue with opening 0 KB projects, while addressing full-screen issues on certain system configurations. This Software Update fixes an issue with projects having a size of 0 KB. Attempting to open these projects would cause iMovie to quit unexpectedly at launch.
This Software Update also addresses a problem where full-screen mode could not be accessed on some systems.
Developed by Apple itself, iMovie is a video-editing program designed to allows Mac users to edit their own home movies. Since version 3, iMovie has been a Mac OS X-only application, bundled in the iLife suite of Macintosh apps. The software imports video footage to the Mac using either the FireWire interface on most MiniDV format digital video cameras, the USB port, or from a hard drive. From there, the user can edit the video clips, add titles, and add music. Effects include basic color correction and video-enhancement tools, and transitions such as fade-in, fade-out, and slides.
Released earlier this year, iMovie '09 (part of the iLife '09 package) introduces some new features, while restoring some from previous versions of the app, such as basic video effects, image stabilization and location-based functions.
The latest update to iMovie, available for free download via the Software Update mechanism (Apple Menu -> Software Update on your Mac), or by using the link below (standalone installer package), is 24.5MB in size, requires Mac OS X 10.5.6 Leopard and supports several languages, including Deutsch, English, Français, Chinese, Español, Italiano, Nederlands, Dansk, Norsk Bokmål, Polski, Português, Português Brasileiro, Pусский, Suomi, Svensk, Japanese, Korean, etc.
