14 DAY TRIAL // Just the other day, disgraced Democrat Anthony Weiner announced that the scandal that forced him to step out of the spotlight in 2011 was “entirely past him.” As it turns out, it’s not – and one campaign aims to let all New Yorkers know that they deserve a better (potential) Mayor than this.
For those who don’t know, Weiner was involved in a huge lewd scandal in 2011, which forced him to retire from politics to salvage whatever was left of his career – and his marriage.
The scandal involved compromising pictures of the politician (under the moniker Carlos Danger), which emerged online after he sent them to various women either via text or social media.
In March this year, Weiner became convinced that enough time had passed for the people of NYC to forgive him, so he announced his intention to run for Mayor.
As noted above, the other day, Weiner stressed this in a press conference: he was done exposing himself to random women online. His wife stood by him as he did that.
However, as TMZ can confirm, this is far from the truth.
The Dirty can also offer photographic evidence in this sense: if anything, Weiner is just better at hiding these days, he never stopped.
Consequently, the latter website has launched a campaign to get New Yorkers to understand that “New York deserves better than this.”
“There comes a time for people to dissolve the political bonds which have connected them with self-absorbed, perverted politicians. New York City, now is that time!” Nik of The Dirty writes.
“As the flagship city of the United States, you must use this as an opportunity to tell the world that dirty politicians like Anthony Weiner don’t deserve to represent you,” Nik continues.
“Let your voices be heard and demand that Anthony Weiner aka Carlos Danger withdraws immediately from the mayoral race. Now is your time, your opportunity to positively shift the focus of the mainstream media and the culture of politics in the United States,” Nik adds.
